Working with my client, preparing a photoshoot and getting ready for Launch!

Working with my client Mareco Design, getting ready for launch, what to expect and how I met Abby!

I’ve known Maria for around 5 years, we worked together in the past at a fashion supplier and last summer she decided to set up Mareco Design. When Maria asked me to help her I, of course, jumped at the chance.

Maria has been working on a new product to launch for months to get it just right, she’s sourced premium fabric, designed the dress and embroidery detail (the beautiful embroidery detail is what makes it!), and got the fit exactly how she wanted.  She’s really worked hard to produce something to be proud of with a fit flattering to all and made to last! A commercial fit with Mareco’s unique handwriting. I can’t wait for you all to see the sleeves, it’s a really unique and fun feature.

We talked a lot about when to launch and how to launch, pre-order vs made to order and weighing up each option carefully.  We looked at the launch timing and pricing and what was best for her brand. The pricing is key for a small brand, so much effort goes into making and producing a beautiful piece.

After everything was approved the next step was to make the photo samples in various sizes so she could take images on different body shapes. Maria wasn’t sure on whether to do a photoshoot and we agreed 100% this is the way to go. You really need good strong lifestyle shots, moving video shots, and close-ups to show the beautiful details of your product, it’s also good to have some clear flat lays for your website so you have everything covered and get the most out of your photoshoot.

We also talked about the mood of the shoot, what scenes did she need to set, how did she want the models to sit, stand etc.  I advised her to get specific with what she wanted, When you have a short space of time its really important to give everyone a clear list ahead of the shoot to outlay how you want things to go.

Working a full-time job and wearing all the different hats as a small business owner, you need to lean on others and outsource for support and guidance in areas where you maybe need a bit of help and that's where I have supported Maria but also where Abby comes in!

I met Abby on the day of the shoot, We hit off straight away, and quite quickly realised how are businesses seamlessly supported the other. Maria had been talking to Abby about her social media and how to improve it the look and engagement.  Abby is a social media stylist and manager, she makes your social media look beautiful and ensures you have the right content for the pre-launch to drive teasers and behind the scenes etc and she also styles your shoots!

So i’m going to hand over to Abby! Here she writes:

‘I started working with Maria on her social media strategy leading up to the launch. I audited her account and helped her implement ways to increase her visibility prior to launching, helping her create an engaged audience of SUPER FANS for her launch.

Leading up to the shoot we worked on mood boards, styling and ensuring we were on the same path to creating exactly the photos she wanted to showcase the dress to its full potential.

Social media styling is a unique offering that helps connect your target audience using visual storytelling through the power of social media. We chose a studio with incredible natural daylight and quirky props. I was on set creating video content, teasers and setting scenes for our wonderful photographer Graham Cann. And THIS is where I met Clare.

It’s a memorable moment when you instantly match energy with someone and click! We talked all things fashion, shoot and instantly hit it off. We realised that being two business owners, we could complete each others offerings and seamlessly walk clients from the initial product concept right through to social media / styling shoots and strategy.

It can feel incredibly daunting launching a product or brand, it’s SO important to have the right people around you every step of the way instead of ending up in a “Ok, what now?” Scenario’

If you are looking for a power duo with expertise to help you start your brand, take you through initial concept to launch and build a strong social community along the way, then we got you! Work with us and we’ll have you up and running the biz of your dreams in 6 months.
